I’m Phil Robertson’s Daughter. My Dad’s First 4 Words to Me Were Exactly the Ones I Needed to Hear
by: Phyllis Robertson Thomas
When I was growing up, it was just us boys. Four rowdy, insensitive, crazy boys. So imagine my surprise when, late last year, I received a random letter from a lady who claimed to be my sister. I’ll admit that I was skeptical at first, but after DNA testing, it was confirmed — I did indeed have a sister.
I have to tell you, even though she was conceived during Dad’s “rough” patch, and even though we had never laid eyes on her until a few months ago, we could not be more excited to finally have Phyllis in our family. More and more, we are even discovering that she shares many of the Robertson “idiosyncrasies.” The icing on the cake for us is that she is a radical believer in our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
YES! She is definitely one of us. No doubt about it. And I love her.
Lisa and I are proud to share Phyllis’ blog with you. I pray that it encourages you to seek out the God of redemption and hope. He makes messages out of our messes.
On November 30, 2019, I learned through DNA testing that the man who raised me was not my biological father. This set off a chain of events that led me to a new and wonderful family and the most positive outcome one could imagine. Not everyone’s story ends the way mine has, yet the journey between November and now has seen many ups and downs, feelings of disappointment, offerings of grace, and a heart of gratitude. How did I get where I am today considering I had every reason to feel shocked, disappointed, afraid, and unforgiving?
My first course of action was to soldier on, focusing my efforts on finding my biological father. What a wonderful distraction! Research and discovery took my mind off the greater issue of grief and loss. I determined to contact this father, not knowing how or if I’d be welcomed.
When I received that first phone call from family, that first reciprocal connection, the flood gates opened, and I cried on the phone with a total stranger, a first cousin, who responded with compassion and explained to me that mine was a story of redemption, of beauty from ashes, of the only good coming from a man’s evil and wayward past. Now this man of God, my earthly father, devotes his very life to loving people, teaching the Bible, bringing people to the feet of Jesus and repentance, and baptizing them by the thousands. As a believer myself, what more could a girl like me ask for?
That first call framed every facet of what followed as brothers, sisters-in-law, and a special mom, Miss Kay, reached out to me. I felt loved and accepted, reminded that God was doing something big. When I finally met my dad on February 21, 2020, his first words were “I had no idea.” I told him those were the best words he could have spoken to me. You see, if he’d known about me and never found me, I would have been devastated. Those words allowed me to offer grace and compassion. I could see in his own eyes feelings of shock, disappointment, and even embarrassment. He had no idea.
Now that I’ve met my new family and made preparations to move near them so that I can get to know them, especially my aging dad and special mom, I’ve had time to really explore how I feel and work through those emotions. Once I started to unpack the grief and loss, I recognized the anger and sadness in myself. Anger and sadness, grief and disappointment are part of the seasons of the human condition. But God does not want us to bear these burdens on our own. He wants us to cast our cares on Him, because he cares for us. When we allow that truth to frame our emotions, we allow the Holy Spirit to work in the situation and turn what the enemy meant for harm into a powerful story of faith, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Otherwise, we become bitter and carry the heavy weight of unforgiveness.
Yes, a casual relationship led to my birth. At the time, neither my mother nor father considered this. That irresponsibility leading to my very existence is theirs to work through. My father didn’t know and my mother chose life. God knew me before I was formed in my mother’s womb and he had a plan and purpose for my life. I’ve held on to that truth for as long as I can remember.
My response to my parents’ sin is forgiveness. Even if I had been rejected by my birth father, the real benefactor of forgiveness is the one who offers it. I am the one who is set free when I don’t keep a record of wrongs; I can move forward and walk the path that God has set before me. He orders my steps, and I trust Him. My identity is in Him, not in my birth mother or father. I have been crucified in Christ, and I no longer live, but it is Christ who lives in me. By following Jesus’ example of grace, healing and restoration are there to mend my broken heart and replace those feelings of grief, sadness, disappointment, and anger with joy, gratitude, and peace.

July 10, 2020 at 2:18 pmI am very proud to know that the family is so good and open their arms. Very good Christian example
Louise Prevost
July 12, 2020 at 1:44 pmAdultery is not a good Christian example. He is quick to judge other people about their life style ie gays transgender and so on.Do not praise this man.He needs to take a good long look in a mirror.
Darrell Elmore
July 12, 2020 at 2:20 pmThat happened before he became a christain. Gid forgave him of his sins. Ye who cast the first stone

July 15, 2020 at 9:36 amAfter Phyllis was conceived, and before she was born,
Phill was converted., got saved, repented. They both had new life at the same time.
Phyllis said, she loved that they were ‘the same age.’.

July 15, 2020 at 1:43 pmEither way, God forgives. You’d better hope so!
Darla Mills
November 30, 2020 at 11:38 amHis adultery happened before he was a born again Christian. Phyllis was born 3 mos or so after his change in heart and mind. The two events happened in the same year. You check the timeline! Still he was not even aware of what had happened.

July 16, 2020 at 2:50 pmI love the Unasha.ed Podcasts ! Phil, Al and Jase are my favorite Men of God to listen to. I follow along g in my bible with their teachings and they only teach the truth!
Chris Smth
July 12, 2020 at 2:22 pmYour talking preredemption when this took place. Jesus died for all of our sins, past, present and future. Anyone born again through Christ is a saint, including Phil.
Tom Champaigne
July 12, 2020 at 2:52 pmTo err is human to forgive is divine he admitted he was a terrible person back then and I think it’s time to move on and it’s really none of your damn business but you can comment
Michael Butler
July 12, 2020 at 3:11 pmApparently you your self do not know the meaning of forgiveness, mercy and redemption. Phill Robertson is a perfect example of being reborn. He who is in Christ is a new creature the old has passed away all things have become new. 2nd Corinthians 5-17
James Moore
July 12, 2020 at 3:13 pmOnly one person was ever perfect. Our Lord Jesus Christ. Phil never condemned homosexuality. That’s God’s job.Phil believes in loving the sinner, hating the sin.
Cindy M Johnson
July 12, 2020 at 3:19 pmIf you were up to date on this story, you’d know that his adultery ways happened before he was a Christian man. Therefore it’s not our job to judge him but God’s job. He comments about the gays and so on because he knows in the Bible it is wrong. And again, it’s God’s job to judge those people’s choices not ours. But Phil does stand firm in his convictions so kudos to the man he has become thanks to the grace of God.

July 12, 2020 at 3:20 pmHe did own up to his mistake try to own up to yours when you say negative things about him and you should be the one looking into the mirror
Dustin Wilkins
July 12, 2020 at 3:39 pmHe did look in the mirror and seen sin and speaks about it he admits his wrongdoings!!!! You look in the mirror and let’s see your past ??
Rico Dunsmore
July 12, 2020 at 3:42 pmWho in the world do we think we are when we cannot forgive someone whom Almighty God has forgiven? My Bible says Jesus blood was shed for all sins – past, present, and future.
Tg
July 12, 2020 at 3:51 pmHe has looked in that mirror, asked for forgiveness, and has been forgiven through the blood of Christ. It is finished.

July 12, 2020 at 4:10 pmAdultery is a sin sure he does not judge but rather spread the word of God. Im sure he has repented and you shouldn’t wait to do the same.
Margie
July 12, 2020 at 5:19 pmAre you familiar with the circumstances? Do you understand this happened BEFORE Phil was saved? No one is trying to claim infidelity isn’t sinful. But if the Lord forgives, Phil’s wife forgives and his daughter forgives perhaps it isn’t for YOU to judge.
Marilyn Groneng
July 15, 2020 at 7:54 amAnd I hope no one thinks that Christians are perfect! We are all sinners! As they say, church is a house for sinners!
Margie
July 12, 2020 at 5:22 pmI need to add that this family does NOT judge LGBTQ+ people. In fact, they feed them, clothe then and help them. They simply believe in what the Bible teachers. You can have beliefs without unfairly treating others, that’s what being a good Christian is and that’s exactly what they do.
Robert Armentrout
July 12, 2020 at 6:10 pmReally. I guess you are ignoring the fact this happened vefore he was saved. But we forgive all those tgat choise hate over forgiveness. And just because he does not agree with things does not mean he does not love them. I would imagine their are things you do not agree with. And you know what. That is ok to. It is only if it is followed with hate oe anger that is becomes an issue.
ERMENTROUT CARL
July 16, 2020 at 11:35 amInteresting last name & a Christian; any relation to Ermentrouts in PA?
Tanya Sieh
July 12, 2020 at 6:54 pmHe follows what the Bible says. I don’t agree with them. I know only God has the right to judge others, thus it is not up to you or I to determine if he is good or not. That is between him and God and the rest of our opinions and judgements mean nothing.
Tanya Boudreaux
July 15, 2020 at 12:02 pmTänya Sieh, please read John 7
Especially John 7:24

July 12, 2020 at 7:26 pmHe has looked in the mirror and Jesus is his only judge and obviously he was given Grace we all have sin one is not greater than the other. We are called to love not judge. He has already been forgiven by the one who counts.
Erin warmuskerken
July 12, 2020 at 7:37 pmIf he was choosing adultery as a way of life you would have a point. But obviously he put that sin down long ago and doesn’t defend it. Past sins are past.
Elizabeth Reil
July 12, 2020 at 7:43 pmYou are blind. He is not the one who judges. He tells about the God who does, and who also loves the humans He created, His laws and His sacrifice for sin for forgiveness. Phil is living his preaching about forgiveness as well as turning from a life of sin and ungodliness to the life of love and wholeness through the Messiah.
Steve Rhodes
July 12, 2020 at 7:57 pmOh he is the mirror for most all humanity. And it started with himself, accepting his mistakes as a human and doing his best to rectify them and not making them twice. That is a big part of what defines a godly man. Take note sir, you have so much to learn
Bobbie
July 12, 2020 at 8:25 pmThis happened before he was saved. Once he was saved Christ forgave his sin
christina simpson
July 12, 2020 at 9:45 pmYou do understand this was MANY MANY decades ago? I would hope you are not the same woman you were decades ago…..he is also the first person to say he is a sinner….he looks in that mirror everyday. Just sayin.

July 12, 2020 at 11:34 pmOh goodness. Let’s see if I can help. The difference is that he acknowledges his wrong, he acknowledges that he is a sinner, repents (stops doing it) and seeks forgiveness. Gays, don’t acknowledge their sins, represent, and seek forgiveness. I hope that helps.
Sebastien Benzi
July 13, 2020 at 7:31 amThis was before he was Christian, living like the people you described. Now he knows the only way and wants all people to experience the same freedom he found.
Deborah Cummings
July 13, 2020 at 8:03 amYes knows what he did in the past, and has told all. God has forgiven him, why cant you?
Rachel Carney
July 13, 2020 at 8:24 amIt’s the act of knowing and still continuing in sin that’s a problem. Turning away from it changes everything. Sin is sin, we’ve all committed sin. Pointing sin out isn’t judgement or hypocritical, it’s bringing to light a fact in heartfelt hopes that one will turn away from their sin.
Beth Reil
July 13, 2020 at 8:29 amThis happened BEFORE he was saved. When you accept Christ, sins are forgiven and you are born anew! Maybe you are the one who needs to look in the mirror, Louise Prevost! Also, he believes the Bible, which clearly states that homosexuality is wrong.
Erica Johnson
July 13, 2020 at 9:48 amIf you go back and read the whole story of how this came about you will find that this was a time during Phil’s life before he knew Christ. He admits that the life he led before Christ was indeed sinful, but he also acknowledges the saving grace of Jesus Christ that changed his life and set him on the path of redemption. I think that is it safe to say that we have all had a past before coming to know Christ. All who are believers were once sinners condemned, but now saved by grace. How thankful to God we should all be in his abundant love tbat while we were yet sinners he still loved us. God loved us so much that he provided his only son to die for us so that we can have that opportunity of eternal life with him and be forgiven of all our sins. To walk in a newness of life. Isn’t that a wonderful thought Louise? That none of us are perfect, that all of us are sinners, but that God’s grace can cover a multitude of sins. It says God forgives as fsr as the east is to the west. Louise if a brother has repented, and if God has forgiven them of their sin then why shouldn’t we also do the same? It says we are to be imitators of Christ. It also says that if we can’t forgive how brother that we can see here on earth, how do you expect the father in heaven to forgive us…. just some food for thought….. and as far as the other sins that you mentioned. They are in fact listed in the Holy Bible as sins. I personally don’t think that we can pick and chose different parts of the Bible to believe. I think that we have to understand that the entire Bible is the inspired word of God and should be viewed as such. All of the sins listed in it, are in fact sins. No one greater than the other. None are sins that God can look upon….. but then their is Grace, then there is Jesus. Our exceptance of his son, give us a great hope!! I am so grateful to findout that Phil is in fact human with human mistakes, but that he also has a heart that loves a God that has forgiven him of his sinful past. So excited that he and Phylis have a few years now to know one another.
Chris knotts
July 13, 2020 at 4:08 pmAnd what are you doing Judging him. Pull mote out your own eye, then you can see clearly.
Cecilia littlefield
July 13, 2020 at 4:44 pmGod bless you.u need to understand the power of forgiveness in jesus.this forgiveness is what qualifies phil to talk for his savior and how wrong sin is no matter who u r..and what damage sin can do..that is why, we share these true stories…study to understand the forgiveness jesus gives with love…accept jesus as savior and u will totally understand the testimony given..God bless you
Verna reed
July 13, 2020 at 5:22 pmLouise provest. So you are no better than how you feel & condemning phil!!! Youre as guilty! Jesus said all that are without sin cast the first stone! It happened before he repented & became a nnew creature in Christ!
Vann Kirkland
July 13, 2020 at 5:31 pmThose are the God’s words from The Holy Bible. If you don’t like it, take it up with God. Phil and so many others are speaking the truth.
Maggie Kropp
July 14, 2020 at 2:45 amHe already has.
Horace Keith Clark
July 14, 2020 at 9:38 amHe asked God for forgiveness, he doesn’t neef6 yours.
Yvonne Herrera
July 14, 2020 at 12:25 pmThat’s what redemption is all about. I had a horrible past, BUT Jesus Christ forgave me. Now I’m a new creation, the old is gone… 2 Corinthians 5:17
Jackie armel
July 14, 2020 at 2:31 pmI hope God can forgive you for all your sins ..and God is our judge not you
Robert Ward
July 14, 2020 at 6:33 pmHe wasn’t a Christian during that time of his life. He did commit adultery as a sinner and was forgiven for that when he asked Jesus into his heart.
Elsie Clark
July 14, 2020 at 6:58 pmHe was a sinner. He is now saved. Maybe you need to take a look in the mirror about judging 🤔
Tommy c
July 14, 2020 at 7:35 pmNoone is praising Phil.
Phil has taken a long hard lookat himself andhachanged his life through accepting Christ.
He now does his best to live according to Christs will and he also acknowledges from where he came.
He is achanged man who teaches the word of God so others can be forgiven and saved
Jason
July 14, 2020 at 9:07 pmHe that is without sin let him cast the first stone.. God does not grade sin as it is all equal evil. No matter if they’re gay or bare false witness. We justify no sin over another in the attempt to look less sinful and evil.
Paula Hammons
July 15, 2020 at 2:39 amDo you realize this happened in his pre Christ era. He has moved forward and asked forgiveness from our Lord and Savior and his family.
Deloris Capps
July 15, 2020 at 7:57 amHe only presents God’s Word on those topics. I have only seen him point others to Jesus for redemption, not condemnation.
Nancy DeCicco
July 15, 2020 at 8:19 amYou are totally missing the point. In Jesus there is complete forgiveness of
sin and complete and everlasting redemption. Phil has looked in that mirror long and hard, seen what manner of man he was without Jesus and asked for that forgiveness for all past, present and future sin. That option is also open to you and would bring you a better understanding of God’s forgivenesses, mercy and grace.
Jeff Dockery
July 15, 2020 at 9:09 amAs many have spoken out and said , this happened before and not after Phil came to Christ. He openly admits he ran with the evil one for 27 years and for 47 years has been running with Christ wide open. If you ever take the time to listen to the whole story and listen to the Bible studies you will learn he doesn’t judge anyone in any shape from or fashion. He just spreads the word and is there for anyone that reaches out. He has taught his son’s the same thing. Just ask me. I reached out to them, had a response in a short time and the next day I was in Monroe Louisiana getting baptized by Alan. Phil has brought who knows how many lives to Christ.
Sean Mann
July 15, 2020 at 9:13 amPhil has always spoken of his own transgressions. He HAS taken a long look in the mirror. That is why he speaks God’s truth for us to hear.
Robyn Estabrook
July 15, 2020 at 9:37 amThis is called forgiveness. This happened before he became a Christian. He repented of his former life. Have you ever forgiven someone? God has already forgiven him, why can’t you?
Diana Gibson
July 15, 2020 at 9:51 amPhil’s adultery was BEFORE his decision to accept the forgiveness of Jesus and follow Him. We are ALL sinners, we ALL need the forgiveness of the sinless Son of God. Phil’s “judgment” is not “his”, but God’s! He is simply sharing what God tells us in his Word.
David Bartling
July 15, 2020 at 11:30 amShame on you for that comment. You obviously still don’t get that people with ungodly pasts can be forgiven and turn their lives around (like the disciples of Jesus).
Tanya
July 15, 2020 at 11:31 amHe wasn’t a Christian at the time….
Please get the facts straight. Thank you!
God bless u & keep u.
Tanya Boudreaux
July 15, 2020 at 11:59 amLouise Provost, He’s not being judgmental- he’s sharing God’s Word with sinners because he & all of us are sinners- we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. He doesn’t not single out one sin & excuse the others- all sin is sin against a Holy God. He’s not high fiving them to hell he’s loving them with the truth.
Jackie Minniti
July 15, 2020 at 12:15 pmJudge not, lest ye be judged.
David Kuhn
July 15, 2020 at 1:54 pmWe all need forgiveness daily, everyday we have mercies renewed by the grace of God.
Helene E. Schmidt
July 15, 2020 at 7:14 pmThat was before he came to give his live to Jesus. So, who is the one that is “quick to judge other people”?
Shari marchand
July 16, 2020 at 6:59 amOh my I guess Jesus isn’t in your life. Ask forgiveness for your sins and the Lord of forgiveness and love will wash you clean with his love. Those you speak of continue to go against what is what is wrong. We all make mistakes and that is why Jesus died for us to was away our sins. I will pray that you see a good man of God. And I pray for you to open your cold heart because you are not a true believer of the Lord if you don’t forgive. I am so sorry for you
Douglas Boudreau
July 16, 2020 at 7:41 amWe all have our opinions. They have repented in the eye’s of GOD, THROUGH HIS SON JESUS WE HAVE BEEN SAVED…AND THEY SERVE TOGETHER
SCB
July 16, 2020 at 7:52 amYou obviously don’t have a clue how jesus works! He was a sinner that hasn’t found Jesus back then do your research before you judge
Sonja Nelson
July 16, 2020 at 12:14 pmHe has taken a look in the mirror ! He repented and took his life to Christ . He is not judging he is trying to get people to listen to the gospel.
James Trentadue
July 16, 2020 at 12:34 pmI don’t think he’s judging the sinner…onlthe sin.repent, believe, recieve live forever in the presence of the Lord,
Carol Graham
July 16, 2020 at 2:46 pmPhil Robertson is my favorite Man of God to listen to. He I love the Unashamed Podcasts and In the Woods with Phil. I follow his teachings a d he speaks the truth from God Holy Word. Anyone who thinks so negative ely of his teachings needs to read the Bible. Phil only teaches and speaks the truth from God”s word.
Niery
July 17, 2020 at 7:45 pmShe is his Daughter and not you. Read her feelings on it and statement SHE chose to forgive ! Read Phil’s statement > He did not know. Read his sons statement > Years back when his father was living differently ! Thank you
Scarlett
July 19, 2020 at 10:53 amI’m sure he has ., but in judging him you are doing the very thing you condemn .
Mark McLean
July 20, 2020 at 4:31 pmHe did. And that is why he is a Christian today. He wasn’t a Christian then. Sin is still sin but he is forgiven and his life shows it.
Maureen Safron
July 27, 2020 at 4:57 pmIf your offended, then he’s doing his job. The Gospel should cut like a two edge sword. Our sin fights truth until we surrender at the feet of Jesus. Look at why u are really angry. God bless you my brother
Jima Zimmerman
August 1, 2020 at 6:56 pmI’ve never heard him judge anyone.
Kimberly Thompson
August 3, 2020 at 12:36 pmAre you mad ! He was a sinner when she was conceived. He had no idea . He’s a wonderful Christian Man if God ! You on the other hand need to read the whole story !
Frances S.
August 4, 2020 at 5:39 amBut you missed the entire point of the bBible message. Of the message of Christ who came to show those with opinions like yours how forgiveness of all of us can be had only by accepting Christ and forgiving others. Hopefully you’ll come to realize the concept of God making beauty from ashes before it’s too late. Whatever is broken in your own life, trust Jesus Christ to lead you through to victory, as he has Phil Robertson. If you cannot see the hand of God’s power in Phil, then you might need to go back to Genesis 1:1 and start all over.
Monica Batts
August 5, 2020 at 7:21 amHe does not judge, he simply points out the truth of what the Bible says. But SOME PEOPLE can’t handle the TRUTH!!
Laurel Smith
August 7, 2020 at 7:32 pmThat was in his wild years. We as Christians should learn to forgive those who change their lives. We all make mistakes.
Kim Kesler
August 7, 2020 at 8:06 pmTry to keep that it was the years that Phil was drinking and wasn’t a Christian in fact he was an atheist. Wow.
You’re so ignorant
Kathy E
August 7, 2020 at 8:07 pmBe careful those who live in glass houses. Everyone makes mistakes and that was said. So why all the hate. Think about that.
Buddy Lee Walker
August 7, 2020 at 8:14 pmI don’t know but that might have happened before he was born again.
Steve Vondersaar
August 7, 2020 at 8:55 pmLet he who is without sin cast the first stone. The last time I checked, Jesus was the only perfect human to tread earth. Being a good Christian means forgiving – even our enemies, which I admittedly have difficulty with, personally – and not judging. It is not our place to judge, that’s God’s job.
Russell
August 7, 2020 at 9:34 pmYou so so wrong! Gays are spoke about in the Bible! You cannot be a Christian or get to heaven being gay! Sad but true!
Judith
August 7, 2020 at 9:54 pmWe are not Christians because we’re perfect we’re Christians because we know we’re not perfect and that Christ died to cover our sins.
Admitting our sins and asking forgiveness for those sins is the way for our sins to be forgiven.
Foremost of those who practice homosexuality they not only don’t ask for extra getting this they praised their sin and celebrate it as do many of those around them.
No one should celebrate sin.
Jerrell haynes
August 7, 2020 at 10:03 pmWhat God has formed,& then joined together is His doing! He doesn’t make mistakes so let love run it’s corse, after this short affair Jesus set in motion the forgivness only He can give & thanks to the Holy Sperit the plan to redeem both was carried out perfectly,Only God can make a life & only Jesus can save it,in this plan He saved 2 lives & then made them whole!thank you for your eternal Love Lord, for You alone are worthy of praise!
Paul Martin
August 7, 2020 at 11:21 pmThere is a difference in a man that sins and then turns to God, lives in His Light, teaches His Word and spreads His Love from the man that sins and continues in the ways of darkness and goes on to spread evil upon the earth. God Bless You Phil Robertson. Your words have helped me in my journey.
DPauls
August 8, 2020 at 12:51 amThe most important thing as a Christian is forgiveness. God forgave is of our sins, no matter!
Steve Thweatt
August 8, 2020 at 8:24 amForgiveness is the first precept of the gospel. All of us have sinned, and all of us need forgiveness. Another wonderful teaching of the gospel is this: judge not so that you are not judged. How easy it is
to fall into the f trap of judging someone else. The psalm says ‘mercy and truth have kissed’. Truth without mercy is cruel and mercy without truth is deceiving..
Timothy Dixon
August 8, 2020 at 6:17 pmWhat a silly comment it’s unbelievable that you could make such crazy comment but understanding that you don’t get the fact of forgiveness. God did not save us in our sin God Saves us from our sin that isn’t a license to continue. Jesus told the woman in the act of adultery go and sin no more. I disagree with the lifestyle of homosexuality but that doesn’t mean that I dislike the people or that I judge them by placing them in hell that’s not my job and that’s not anyone’s job but God himself all that mr. Richardson can do and all the people like myself can do is speak the word of God what’s judging homosexuality is not any man it is the word of God itself. It doesn’t say in the word of God that a woman cannot have an abortion but it does speak of murder and immorality and abortion is murder. And the other speaks for itself. So I don’t understand what’s your anger is about. But I hope you find peace. But serving Jesus does not give you a right to lie in sin
Susan Murphy
August 9, 2020 at 6:15 amThis was before He was saved. God Loves Us! He washes away all Sin.
Karen Richards
August 9, 2020 at 4:23 pmI’ve never once heard any of the Robertsons set themselves up as “good examples”. They’re honest and forthright about their struggles in the day to day, as well as their pasts. I think you’ve misunderstood that what you’re hearing from Phil is that no one has fallen so far that they can’t be redeemed through Christ’s finished work on Calvary. 🙌🏼The focus of this story isn’t the adultery, but rather the redemption and the good that came out of it.
Carrie Howell
August 10, 2020 at 2:04 pmYou are WRONG!!! He admits he was a sinner and lived in sin but then found Jesus. He is now a follower of Jesus and tries to lead others to Jesus. The Bible tells us to judge with a righteous judgement, the Bible is often misquoted as do not judge. Phil is only condemning the sin, but loves the sinner as we are supposed to do. He would be wrong if he said being homosexual was okay when the Bible clearly says it is not.
Avolyn
August 11, 2020 at 12:52 pmNot agreeing with a lifestyle doesn’t mean not being able to love a human for being a human. There doesn’t have to be hate in every disagreement. You are doing the very thing you’re admonishing him for doing — judging because you don’t agree with his view of something. I certainly hope that mirror you’re casting around has two sides.
Faye Morris
August 21, 2020 at 5:37 pmAll this happened BEFORE he accepted Jesus as his savior! I’m sorry you don’t understand forgiveness!
Mikel McKinley
August 24, 2020 at 3:15 amSin is sin. Adultery, homosexuality, murder, lying. All sin. Jesus forgives it all if you ask.
Brian montes
August 26, 2020 at 9:52 amAren’t you yourself passing judgement did you not read or comprehend what you read??
Maybe you should reread the story!!
JOYCE HAINES
August 28, 2020 at 12:33 pmThat was his past! He is a Godly man forgiven by God! I am so thankful that God does not keep a record of our wrong doings but FORGIVES us. The Bible says Judge NOT lest you be judged!
Lynda Jones
August 30, 2020 at 2:59 pmOh my you are right we should never praise the man only the God he serves. And Praise the Lord Jesus example showed us how forgiveness and grace works. If I were Phyllis or Phil I would be so happy my family chooses forgiveness over judgement. Grace over condemnation.
Angela
August 30, 2020 at 10:05 pmPhil always uses himself as an example and the result of sin and how dangerous sin can be.The way I was living 20 something years ago has helped many people as well.
Rick
September 1, 2020 at 6:50 pmHe has. What he saw was a sinner.
A sinner who is trying to walk others home.
A sinner who is trying the best he knows how to not sin again.
A sinner who recognizes that he can neither condemn nor condone another but is only trying to be The Light, The Way and The Truth for himself and others.
Jerry Allen
September 10, 2020 at 12:35 pmWhat do you know about Phil? He admits what he was like back in the day. He also grew up a d asked God for forgiveness. Because of that his sin was wiped away. As far as gay, transgender bisexuality and pre marital sex….it is a sin that needs Gods forgiveness. Phil doesn’t hate those people he just tells the truth about God’s laws. You not loving Phil and your hatred for him is something that you will take up with God when you pass.

September 14, 2020 at 5:43 pmWe all need to take a good look at ourselves. Continually! Introspection is a good thing.
It’s also not our place to judge others, to decide what they should and shouldn’t be or do.
More could be said…

September 17, 2020 at 1:32 amWe are all sinners AND if you read the article IT stated that it was before he was a believer. My thoughts to you are, Let the first amongst you without sin throw the first stone.
Adna
September 19, 2020 at 1:52 pmHad you ever read his book, “Happy, Happy, Happy”, you will find he was a wild man before finding God. Furthermore, the Bible says to judge with righteous judgment that leads to repentance. Plus, I think you’d enjoy the book.
Susan Bordelon
September 19, 2020 at 4:47 pmThis was before he let Jesus into his life. God can forgive anything.
Rhonda Martin
October 2, 2020 at 9:24 pmThis was his behavior before he found Christ. He is telling people of all lifestyles that no matter how bad , horrible, shameful etc.. It is possible to be reborn and new in Christ.
C Horton
October 4, 2020 at 2:11 pmMa’am this was before he was saved and when he was living a vicarious life. Judge ye not lest ye be judged. Take your anger to the Lord, not this family. Their belief in the principles of Jesus are their beliefs. Your heart is hard and you appear angry. I hope you find peace in your life.
Anne Brown
October 4, 2020 at 5:21 pmHe is a great Christian example! He has mended his past by accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savoir; he has not turned by since and has brought others to know Christ. Yes, he is and his family very upstanding people. God is awesome!
Bill metz
October 5, 2020 at 2:28 pmLet’s not forget Christians are not perfect and some have rough past. Consequences of sin. I always teach my sons we will all fall, but a real man gets up quickly. I’ve not heard him judge anyone. I’ve heard that he repeats the Bible. So if you have a problem with the Bible reference that he uses to differentiate a Godly life vs a worldly, sinful life then you’re really disappointed with Gods word and seem to have a bigger issue.
David
October 5, 2020 at 9:52 pmDont judge bitch. Eat your own words. And if the American person doesn’t agree in men sticking their dicks in another man’s asshole or taping their dicks under their balls to act like a woman then we do not have to accept it. Put that picture in your head lady. Not a pretty picture
Jennifer Barker
October 8, 2020 at 6:34 amHis affair happened before he accepted Jesus as his Saviour. Once we lay our sins at the feet of Jesus and ask Him to forgive us we are set free. Yes, we still suffer the consequences of our sins, but God is faithful and just to forgive us. He loves us all, but we all need Christ as our Saviour.
Debra Devine
October 11, 2020 at 9:33 pmThis was an affair that was done before he became a Christian. . And as far as his beliefs it is all in the Bible . He only tells the truth. The fact that he accepted his daughter shows his integrity! And even Christian make mistakes..
Ben Christopher Sexton
October 16, 2020 at 5:55 pmThe reason we need christ is because we are not perfect. I can imagine you have broken every commandment just as I have. You need to look in a mirror and stop being a hypocrit.
Jane Tullis
October 17, 2020 at 9:39 amGive it up Louise, forgive as you have been forgiven.
Cora Jo Beaty
October 18, 2020 at 5:34 pmI fail to recall a time when Phil ever pretended to be perfect. 🙄
Joan Massey
October 21, 2020 at 1:11 pmThis immoral situation happened before he knew the Lord as his Savior. He talks about it openly & that it was wrong. He didn’t know he had a daughter because once he accepted Jesus, he shut that life down & walked away from it.
Angie Bauer
October 30, 2020 at 12:33 amHe has never denied his sinful past! He speaks truthfully about what the bible says regarding a gay and transgender lifestyle! That is not judgement but honesty.
Andrea
November 19, 2020 at 7:32 amGod with His grace and mercy forgives us of our sins, just as Phil’s daughter, wife, and family forgave him. Christians are not called to show each other judgement when someone makes a mistake or goes down a wrong path. We are called to be gracious and to love one another because Christ loved us first. No, it is not admirable behavior but he is forgiven, just like any of us would be if we just ask. We should try to encourage and correct one another and be supportive of our neighbor, especially in these instances.
Rich
November 22, 2020 at 9:41 pmI’m sorry but I really think they all have. It’s not for us to point fingers and judge that is Gods job. My God touch your heart.
Corey S.
November 23, 2020 at 8:38 pmThey actually have brought gays and transgender and such into their church and have offered scripture as written, and they also pray acceptance over those individuals. So if you haven’t been down with them, please don’t spread information that isn’t accurate.
Darla Mills
November 30, 2020 at 11:35 amHe has admitted to all of that and has been forgiven. His life example now is more than adequate to his forgiveness by the Lord. He can absolutely have opinions about all that you mentioned. He is covered and he has changed his ways. He walks in light and no longer in darkness. The Lord does not mean for him to carry a mantle of pain and sorrow, but to live out a life that is changed and devoted to helping steer the wicked like he ‘once’ was to a right path. He is called to say what he says by God and to steer Gods children in a right path. He is a pastor and the hands and feet of God, baptizing those that want to be new and have a new relationship with the Lord! What do you do to forgive and encourage people you know to choose a better life. A Christian life?
John Foty
November 30, 2020 at 6:22 pmAll people fall short. No one, not even you and I, are without mistakes. Have you ever needed to make changes in your life? To change direction in one’s life takes courage and determination. How would you know what a “good Christian example” looks like? I venture to say you have no concept of forgiveness. If you really know Phil Robertson, you would know that he has tons of regrets in his life before making a commitment to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you think he is a hypocrite, you need to take a good long look in a mirror.
Debbie Horne
December 8, 2020 at 7:24 pmHe has been saved and changed. He is living his life for Christ now.
Sarah Vance
December 10, 2020 at 2:13 pmHe he ben forgiven by Gid for his sins…and he preaches from the bible….the bible that says those alternate lifestyles are not Bibically morale…..maybe pick up the bible.
Becky Jarrett
December 11, 2020 at 2:14 amYour comments only expose your ignorance about God , his words to us and how we are to live. Thats to bad for you. Unless you truly seek God’s word or your life you’ll choose to hage onto your secular small ammout of Biblical ignorance you are choosing to live by. If you knew God’s word you would never have made the comments you made. Your choice .
Sean Marshall
December 14, 2020 at 10:27 amWhat an ignorant statement to make. Whether this happened before giving his life to God or after giving his life to God, he has been forgiven. Nobody is flawless when giving their life to God. Sometimes it can be a bumpy road along the way and mistakes are made. At the end of the day it is not your place to judge his past wrong doings. And if there is one thing I am certain of, Phil Robertson does not want you to praise him he wants you to praise the Almighty.
Mike mclinney
December 19, 2020 at 7:02 pmSo you’re perfect? You’ve never are mistakes? He was in a bad place during that time. He admitted his wrongs and set about righting them. Look at how many have found redemption and or salvation because of this man
Sounds like you yourself need to brush off that bible
G Hanson
December 23, 2020 at 3:59 pmEvery single human being is sinful and in need of a Savior … Jesus Christ … none of come to the Lord after we clean up … we come just as we are … sinners in need of redemption!
Please read Jn 3:16
Denise Gilpatrick
January 1, 2021 at 3:00 pmYou don’t get it, which is fine. Phil has never claimed to be perfect; he claims to be forgiven 🙂
Scott Bickett
January 3, 2021 at 12:46 pmYou DO UNDERSTAND this was before he came to the Lord Jesus? …look at your own plank in your eye before looking at his speck in his.
Sonia santos
January 8, 2021 at 10:34 pmHe had the affair before he became a believer he mentioned that in the podcast, even his wife said he had a past before he converted . His daughter is 45 he became Christian in the late 70s I believe
Camille Newby
January 14, 2021 at 5:00 amYou don’t listen to him do you? He says he was a sinner a drunk and adulterer. He never speaks about himself being perfect, but that’s what Jesus does, forgives our sins but sounds like you don’t know any of that judging Phil Robertson this way. Listen to the man and learn how to live in Christ
Em
January 17, 2021 at 4:33 pmBut everyone knows that God sent his son to die for everyone’s sins. What would Jesus do? Would he say do not praise this man? You may not forgive him, but one day your judgement won’t be enough to stand by God.
June Munoz
January 19, 2021 at 10:05 amIf you knew Phil Robertson’s history you would know he was living in the “world “ when his Daughter was conceived. He is now a Man who lives in THE WORD- A Child of God
Lucy sue
January 26, 2021 at 10:50 amI think Phil has been more then opened about his past. I love that the family welcomed her with open arms . And it doesn’t look like they did anything to try and hide it. Asking for forgiveness is all one can really do because as much as we may want to you can’t change the past. But if what happened did happen then she wouldn’t be here so thank God for that. Louise Prevost You couldn’t be more wrong. For at one point in our lives we have all send and fallen short of the glory of God. We are all in a need of a Savior. Being man enough to ask God for forgiveness and then spending the rest of your life standing on strong godly principles Is indeed something to be praised for. Phil is a great Example of a living God who works miracles every day. We all have a past.
Bill B
January 27, 2021 at 6:02 pmHis life of sin was before he repented and accepted God. Yes he was an adulterer, and so was David. However, God called David “One after my own heart”. I hope you find relief of your bitterness and cast it upon Christ to burden for you.
Sara Hockenberry
January 30, 2021 at 12:52 amLook who’s judging now! Forgiveness takes a lot! Everyone makes mistakes and out of one of Phil’s he got a daughter. She was meant to be here.. so please look in the mirror and take your own advice and not judge but to move forward.
LJ Eaton
February 1, 2021 at 9:01 pmHe did this before he found Jesus and once he received Jesus he was forgiven. This is am excellent example of the forgiven amd blessed Christian life
after you discover Jesus. Unforgiveness and judgement is NOt.

February 13, 2021 at 4:39 pmAren’t you judging Mr. Robertson? Be careful.

February 24, 2021 at 2:09 pmI think he’s an awesome man owning up to his mistakes and he’s also a Christian!! It’s biblical about gays and sexuality!! Read the Bible!! He cleaned his life up and asked for forgiveness!! He is not judging anyone!!

July 10, 2020 at 2:18 pmTo God be the glory! What a touching story. I too found my biological father through DNA. Sadly, he passed almost exactly 1 year before I found him. I did find that I have 3 half brothers that I didn’t now I had. One brother passed many years ago. I am in contact with one brother and hope to meet him soon. Turns out that Phyllis and I have a roundabout connection coming in July. Her son is marrying my new half brother’s daughter! I am so happy and blessed to have found them.

July 10, 2020 at 9:39 pmI’m sorry you weren’t able to meet your bio father. I’m glad you’ve found your brother and pray God blesses your new relationship deeply. Blessings!

July 11, 2020 at 7:52 pmI think you misread her words! She did meet her biological father and is pursuing a relationship!!

August 12, 2020 at 1:18 amI believe the Phyllis who commented above was speaking to Martha Coggins in the comments section. Martha said that her father had passed a year before she ‘found’ him.

July 10, 2020 at 2:27 pmIone of the things I find most interesting about this whole story is that I’m sure throughout his children’s lives, Phil prayed to God that his children would grow up to be God living adults. Through Gods love and mercy, he answered that prayer. Even for the child Phil didn’t know he had yet.
Phyllis

July 10, 2020 at 2:46 pmI have a similar story. My parents were alcoholics married to other people when I was conceived. My Mom has an appointment for an abortion but in the end didn’t go through with it because she “felt” someone telling her not to do it. She left the clinic. I know that it was the Holy Spirit speaking to her. My Mother’s first Kids accepted and loved me. My Dad’s not so much. They were and some still are angry and bitter about my existence. However several years ago I began to pray for my siblings. I have since connected with two of them. Like you I forgave my parents. And I am so grateful that God is the God of redemption and reconciliation. I am so glad that you found your missing piece. You are a child of redemption.

I am a Christian, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend and a teacher and these words you are speaking are pure truth. I pray you continue on your journey and embrace the wonderful creator we have. He is my best friend and never lets us down. He takes care of us when we don’t even know we need taken care of. He has watched over you from the time of conception and you were created with purpose. I am so beyond happy for you. Sorry, I ramble when talking about God ❤️ Praying for you on your new venture! Slow down, breathe it in and just be for awhile. I don’t know any of you, but from watching this family’s behaviors and fruits I know only good will come of this! Blessed wishes!

July 10, 2020 at 3:20 pmI love this story even though a lot of us fans of the Robertson clan were like….WHAT? HUH? After hearing what happened and the story behind it, plus the miraculous outpouring of Grace and Mercy on everyone made this story even sweeter. I am happy for all of them, but especially for Phyllis. The big hole in her heart has been filled with the love of Jesus and the love of her birth father. I just have one question, is Phyllis’ birth mother still alive? If so, I hope and pray that she is ok with the wonderful reunion that has taken place for Phyllis and her father and brothers.
Coco Pugno
July 15, 2020 at 8:18 amI’ve been thinking the same thing. My guess is that God has orchestrated all of this and if she is still alive she has grace and forgiveness too.

July 10, 2020 at 4:31 pmGod bless all of you! I only wish my first son’s natural father had been saved before he died last year. God led me to Himself, a ministry for unwed mothers, and a community of new family in Christ 33 years ago. My son has had it tough, but used to profess Christ as Lord&Savior. I have followed your story, and decided today I will clear my son of some debt he has to me if he will read your story above. His heart is hard toward Christ. Some softening occurred a tad as the Lord led me to discover a significant financial inheritance he is entitled to from his late father, who at first denied him, then did find him later when all his own family had died over the years. He couldn’t bring himself to meet our son. My son’s stepfather now denies Christ, and disowned my son. Please pray for my son Jesse, please. Thank you! Please share this with Phyllis and Phil&Kay.

July 10, 2020 at 5:30 pmTruly blessed to have found out the Truth before Phil goes home. Sadly Your “Father” the one raised you must be reeling.
I Pray this will work itself out as God wants it too. It’s Non of our business but we can Pray for the Lord to make this better.
I hope this hasn’t damaged your Mother & Father in the Process.
But Remember the Lord is in Control.

July 10, 2020 at 6:40 pmI hear up knowing what a blessing your receiving. I’m so happy for you Phyllis. I’ve been listening to unashamed since you and Tony posted your discoveries. Your situation of finding your dad has shone God’s light into my situation. I couldn’t (can’t) bring myself to walk into another church. But every time I lusten to unashamed God’s word washes my severely wounded soul. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your life. 💛 may God continue to bless you !

July 10, 2020 at 7:02 pmPowerful testimony!!! I see God in this so many ways. First, a mother who chose life. Second, a step-dad who truly raised her as his own. And finally, a reunion to a family she never knew. God is doing neat things! Also, she’s a powerful communicator! Get her writing more!

July 10, 2020 at 7:25 pmI too found my father later in life. My mother remarried when I was 6 so I knew I had a dad somewhere. No one would tell me who he was. For years I carried anger and hate in my heart because I felt abandoned. When Jesus came into my heart I let all the hate and anger go. When my father and I finally met and talked I was so glad for my relationship with Jesus, without that our meeting would not have been pleasant. We had a few years as father and daughter before he was called to heaven. I am so blessed to have had him in my life for the time we were together. I am so glad you found your father.

July 10, 2020 at 8:29 pmThis is a story that everyone should hear. God took what could have been a mess and used it for His message. Phyllis, your heart for God and sweet spirit made it easy for the Robertsons to open their hearts to you. I hope one day to meet you in person the next time we visit WFR Church. God bless you and prayers for an easy move to your new home.

I want to thank you for your willingness to be transparent and allow The Father to use your life as a catalist for healing for what I imagine will be a great number of people. So delighted to hear that you will be living near Phil and your brothers. I hope we will see you again on Unashamed. God bless you richly!

July 10, 2020 at 9:07 pmI couldn’t be happier for all of the family! I’ve known Tony and Phyllis for years and had the privilege to help teach their boys in Sunday School. Grant was the first student I’d ever heard recite the books of the bible in order and record time, as I recall. They were part of our Praise Team and Missionaries. So much I could share, but it all boils down to this. They’re wonderful people, and I’m so glad they’re a part of a wonderful family. Your acceptance is priceless.

July 11, 2020 at 12:11 amI needed to read this. I have a lot of anger towards my family that I’m working through. I pray all the time for Jesus to give me the strength to forgive, but it’s been slow going. Intellectually I understand the value of forgiveness, but I still struggle with these flare-ups of bitterness. I guess it wouldn’t hurt so bad if I didn’t love them so much. I feel like God lead me here to this article to show me that there is hope that my family’s situation can end well, too. Thanks for sharing.

July 11, 2020 at 7:17 amWelcome Home Phyllis. I pray that you and your new family have many years to spend catching up the time that was lost. Phil is a tell it like it is guy and I think that is what the public; certainly myself, love about him. I watched the podcast where he discussed his first few minutes with you and I could just almost see that tenderness you brought out in him. I love that he called you little girl. That made my heart melt for you a little. It certainly brought a tear to my eye. I pray all good things for you and your family in the present and in the future. I may not get to meet you on this planet but I will see you at the rapture my sister in Christ. God Bless

July 11, 2020 at 10:06 amBeautiful story , many blessings to you and your family. I find strength in the Robertson family and now I find strength in you. It’s such a blessing to have a real family to look up to, receive encouragement and draw closer to God just by watching all the Robertsons. It’s funny, because so many people look to your father as a father figure including myself . He speaks the Word into our life’s everyday and it just doesn’t get any better than that!

July 11, 2020 at 12:23 pmI couldn’t think of a better blessing than to find out you are the family to the Robertson’s. I have two hero’s in my life. The Apostle Paul and Phil Robertson. Both were very bad men til the Holy Father changed their lives. I was once as bad as them if not worse until the Almighty made me into the man of God I am today. I watch and read everything Phil teaches. He has helped me grow in my faith in God and in myself. Phil and his family are a true gift to this world.

July 11, 2020 at 8:15 pmI too have recently pieced together my biological background. My birth mother had a brief encounter with my birth father then began dating another friend in their circle. She thought he was my birth father and listed him on my birth certificate. They decided to give me up for adoption at birth, as they weren’t prepared to raise me. Flash forward 50 years and while trying to figure out my background, I was able to figure out who my biological parents are. My bio mom died at 50 from cervical cancer – which is definitely good to know, but my bio dad is alive. After the initial shock of my exhistance wore off (and he finally believed I wasn’t scamming him, lol), I have discovered a whole new side of family. Now, if we can start traveling again, I can fly to meet him in Tennessee from California! Blessings and prayers to you and your wonderful family!

July 11, 2020 at 8:17 pmThank you for your God-gifted words of grace and encouragement. I was adopted at birth from the Philippines, and just last year found my biological mother and 5 siblings at 51 years old. It’s been such a blessing to add them to my family, as all of my adoptive family has passed
away. Apparently, I was a product of rape. That was hard to deal with. But I too choose to believe that my life has purpose and that God has chosen to make something beautiful from something horrible. I love your gift for writing and hope to see more from you!

July 11, 2020 at 8:56 pmIn 1990, I met my biological mother for the first time. When she looked at me for the very first time, her eyes went cold. I’ll never forget it, she was polite, but, I was the only child in a family of 6 that looked like her. She began having children at 17, the first girl, she gave up for adoption. The next 3 kids she kept, but, left them in Foster care while she slept her way around and bar hopped. The man who signed the papers for me to be adopted was a convicted criminal, who 2 years before I was born, threw my birth mother down the stairs when she was 8 months pregnant, and the boy only lived 7 hours.
She finally had the last boy, and gave him away as well. Three of us were lucky to get better homes, the other three survived Hell from living with people who only cared about money from taking in other people’s children.
When I met the 3 siblings who stayed with my birth other (no adoption), they rejected me because I didn’t grow up with them. I should have said the same thing to them!
50 years after my birth, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour! It’s a wonderful feeling to be that loved, when humans will toss you aside like garbage. My adopted family were so kind and loving, I was very lucky.

July 12, 2020 at 6:15 amWhen I read these words, “When we allow that truth to frame our emotions, we allow the Holy Spirit to work in the situation and turn what the enemy meant for harm into a powerful story of faith, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Otherwise, we become bitter and carry the heavy weight of unforgiveness.” I was strongly moved by the Holy Spirit. For my life first, and then for the men that my husband and I minister to. Men who are re-entering from prison, men who the majority of the time no one else will take in. We see every day where the devastation of their past and their responses have created the opposite, lies framing their emotions, and the consequences of that choice. I will be quoting you, with this statement, for years to come, Lord willing. There are so many that need to witness God as real and personal and is still very at work in the lives of His children. as well has what a proper godly response to life situations are. Thank you for all for sharing your life and testimonies of the love and redemption of our Lord, Christ Jesus.

July 12, 2020 at 12:46 pmI never knew my bio dad growing up. All I knew was his name and what state he was from. Through Ansectry DNA in 2017 I found a family member who sent me on a path to find my dad. Long story short, DNA testing proved he was my dad. I have 1/2 siblings and a beautiful extra mom. God has blessed me with all I ever really wanted to know about myself and more. I’m 58 yrs old and my dad is 81. I pray we have lots of time left to grow together in Christ. Congratulations Phyllis, God is good all the time and all the time God is good

July 12, 2020 at 2:49 pmHe doesn’t hide the fact that he was a sinful man in the past. But has given up those ways and started living for the Lord. If you were to read the Bible you would learn that God forgives you for your sins as long as you don’t repeat them.

July 13, 2020 at 12:16 amI really hope you took that same long look in the mirror before you made that comment. Phil follows God’s Word and when God calls something a sin then it is in fact a sin. Phil doesn’t judge, God does.

Your heart is full of love and that is good because our God is a loving God who is a redeemer of souls.
We as Christians are a new creation in Christ therefore we must look forward to our heavenly home living as best we can guided by the Holy Spirit each and every day.
Don’t listen to the naysayers who do not know forgiveness, and hold onto bitterness,
God has a mighty way of restoring that which is lost by Satan‘s deceitful ways in our sins, thankfully we could call upon the Lord Jesus Christ as our savior and lord and he gives us the Holy Spirit to guide us into our future with him we have a relationship that continues to grow into eternity together.
God bless you and keep you in his loving and comforting arms and may you be with a family that is following Jesus from now on to we come into eternity together as children of God.
Our lives are a sacrifice to give him glory for he is our Almighty God and he deserves all the praise that we can give him each and every day thank you for your blog and sharing your testimony and your love for Jesus!!

Isn’t it amazing how God can even use the darkness of our sins to bring light and love into the world. It is so encouraging to see how this event in life is bringing forth a wellspring of love, forgiveness and redemption and it is all to the glory of God. Embrace one another and show the world that we are all fallen , but Gods love, forgiveness and assurance is there for all of us. Blessings as you go forward in this new relationship! – Marc

July 15, 2020 at 10:30 amIt’s was amazing to listen to the podcast and now read Phyllis’s blog. What she said about sadness, grief and disappointment being a part of the seasons. I relate & amazed how you made the choice to give it to god. After 10 yrs of marriage my husband was arrested for child pornography here in California in front of his job. Getting that phone I couldn’t believe it & had no idea he was living a double life. We have two kids and went to church and his dads a pastor. So when you said to give it to god I knew I had to totally surrender to the truth and god which god is truth and my strength. My name is Faith Hope & at this moment I hated my name cause I thought how could god allow this to happen to my kids that’s all I thought. But god is good and this world is broken. I don’t want to carry that anger and disappointment and sadness. Cause what my ex-husband did he did by his own free will and god will deal with him. Thank you Phyllis for being so brave on your journey & having so much Faith. Your an inspiration.
Love & blessings to all.

December 30, 2020 at 8:57 amI too had the pieces of my life jumbled up and scattered when after 10 years of marriage that my husband had been a pornography addict since he was an early teen and had always been unfaithful to me and our
vows. So I want to say I fully recognize the pain, heartache, devastation that I read in every word of your post. My only hope has bern clinging to the hand of Jesus and claiming every promise in His Word as sweet promises made to me. I chose to stay and try to work through his addiction and our
problems (not a better choice than yours Faith just a different one)…the road has been long and taxing for me and for my son as my husband has relapsed more than once. I honestly have fought the devil face to face as I’ve walked through the fire. Faith in the fire is where we are purified and I want you to know as you walk through this pain, our Heavenly Daddy is with you. He is restoring you and your children and behold He is making all things new! We do have very scarred hearts now and have cried enough tears to fill an ocean but what comfort to know that the Creator Himself is holding our tears in a bottle and that our wounded hearts are being held and healed by the nail-scarred hands of our Savior. I know it hurts dear sister but know that God saw it coming before we did and He was there in the middle of the devastation and He is there now as we try to rebuild our lives. How
important your name is to God, Faith Hope, He wrote it into scripture! Faith, hope and love! He knew that you”d need the reminder every second of every day. I promise to pray for you and your family Faith. When it hurts too badly and the load us too heavy allow the greatest of these…LOVE (Christ) to carry it for you. His yoke is much easier. I’ll see you and give you big East Coast Southern girl hug when we meet in Heaven someday sister. Until then hold onto Love and your Faith and your Hope….nobody can take them away from you. God bless

July 15, 2020 at 10:35 amThe most special paragraph began with “a casual relationship led to my birth.” These words (and those following) are powerful. Wisdom has been found in this, and I wish we could share it with others before they take such “relationships” so casually. I have been guilty of this as well, and would never cast stones. The glory is that the mother chose Life. How many don’t, and miss this opportunity for a beautiful life in the world? May our dear Lord bless you and your family.

July 15, 2020 at 2:39 pmOur Savior God is EVERYTHING His Holy Word says. He is Omniscient and Sovereign.. and He knows in advance who will love Him, His Son Jesus, and who sincerely has a heart for Him.
Therefore His Promises are Truth to us
and He takes our mistakes and turns them into miracles. You are one of His miracles from before the time you
were conceived He gave you to Jesus, and the rest is history. I know first hand how Great our God is… and you are another living testimony of that. Continued blessings and more miracles I pray for the Robertson families and beloved friends in Christ Jesus. 🙏🕊🙏

July 15, 2020 at 3:18 pmThink this sums it up.
“No man knows how bad he is till he has tried very hard to be good. A silly idea is current that good people do not know what
temptation means. This is an obviously a lie.
Only those who resist temptation know how strong it is.”
— C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

July 15, 2020 at 4:11 pmI wish I had contacted my biological father like you did. As a young child I knew something was different about who my father was but in our family the issue was never mentioned. My mother died when I was 11; when I was 12 one of my aunts told me who my father was. My reaction was to cry without knowing why. Being from a very small southern town I knew the man but had no idea we were related, After my mom died I moved around, living with first one relative then another. I did not try to contact or talk to my father. I realize now that I was afraid of rejection. My mother had married a brute and had several children by him. They divorced and I am the results of an affair she had with a much younger man. Fast forward to me getting married very young and having children of my own. Still having feelings of not belonging anywhere, I went to a counselor. We uncovered that the reason for my distrust of men was based on no contact with my father. When I finally found the courage to contact him, I discovered he had died. To help heal, I wrote him a letter venting my anger, disappointment in him, and letting him know that I turned out to be a really good, intelligent, Christian woman and that he had missed out on so much by not getting to know me. Had DNA testing been available then as it is now I can only wonder how different the outcome would have been for me. I learned that my father wanted to have a relationship with me but his wife forbade him to have any contact with me as a child. How sad for both of us.
I’m so happy for you, and your new family. I rejoice with you that your heart has healed and that you are surrounded with love. God truly works in mysterious ways. While you have a new life going forward, I have my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I learned to lean on the Lord and I worked my butt off to keep my marriage and family together. My prayer as a young mother was that God would let me live to see my children grown. Christ has faithfully opened the heavenly gates and poured out His blessings so abundantly on my life, I could not ask for more. My children are all serving Jesus – my greatest joy!
Thank you for sharing your story with us. My God continue to bless the Robertson family.

July 15, 2020 at 6:25 pmI’m so very moved by your post Phyllis! Your love and graciousness is a great example for all that will read about this. Our Great God forgives us all when we call upon His Name! That includes those who wrong us. I’m so very grateful for both of your hearts! I’m so very thankful you found each other!

July 15, 2020 at 7:28 pmGod always has a plan… Now, Phil and Phyllis are family. Did her biological mother raise her and give her that name or did her adoptive parents give her that name? Either way, you can see His hand behind bringing them together with a little “God wink”. All the best!

July 16, 2020 at 12:05 amA beautiful testimony,Phyllis. Your story and the choices made by your Mama and Phil both then and now show us that God’s timing and his forgiveness are there, always. He can and will forgive if we ask. What a blessing both you and your family have received in finding and accepting his grace.

July 31, 2020 at 6:02 pmBoy did I take heat by being a fan! Of course I acknowledged that it was a “show” etc. my life experiences including years in Public Safety has afforded me an “eye for authenticity”. No matter what the producers tried to do authenticity shined right through! The Unashamed podcast has validated everything I thought! I rejoice with this family and collecting of what has become a hidden treasure in their lives. A sister and nut just a sister of flesh but moreover of God! His was are not ours but WOW! I do love to see His plans revealed!

August 1, 2020 at 4:50 pmCompletely Awesome! May you enjoy years together as a family. My husband was contacted by a son he never knew. While my husband was serving in the US Navy over 40 years ago, a young man who has blessed our lives was conceived, created by God on purpose to touch us and be part of family. Isn’t Our Jesus amazing!!! Best to ya’ll 🙌🏼

August 5, 2020 at 7:38 amI can’t believe some of these comments, although I should, the world is evil. He does not judge, he simply points out the truth of what the Bible says. But SOME PEOPLE can’t handle the TRUTH!! Yes, he got saved and then backslid and made Phyllis, every single soul that repents has some sort of backslide whether it be with selfishness, anger, addictions, lust, greed, etc.. I think some of y’all are missing the big point of forgiveness in this story. If Phyllis was to think and act as some of y’all are in y’alls comments, do you think she will be free as God wants her to be, or do you think she will be drowning in her bitterness and anger and all the other “fruits” of not obeying God and not being a forgiving human?? I personally think she would be miserable! Some of y’all are only looking at this from one angle. Read your Bible more and y’all will see God and His Truth all through this story. This is who He is!
Thank you so very much for sharing your story with the world. This is such a gorgeous example of Christ, the Father, and His word! I love the Robertson family and you, Phyllis, are just another beautiful addition to it! I can’t wait to read more of your blogs and stuff and get to know the newest (female!!) Phil Robertson offspring!
From one of y’alls biggest fans!

August 7, 2020 at 10:27 pmNone are righteous ,no not one ,save Jesus who alone made us free of guilt & shame because He alone took that burden to the grave for all us sinners, because He wanted To follow His fathers desire to keep his children from one who wished only our destruction ,so lets .Remember that that love is able to cover all the mistakes we so foolishly chase after, for so many wrong reasons, thanks be to God we are set free! Therefore hold to the good with all your hearts,Love to best of your ability ,never look back In regret because the plan was to teach us to see Love as the greatest power & gift in all this life we so foolishly living. We do suffer most from lack of understanding that God is doing miracles everyday, but we close our eyes,& refuse to hear His words, Love on brother & sisters for great is our reward to come, joint inheritors with Christ of everything is so awesome I tremble at the thought! To be called God’s sons & daughters is even more awesome! However the greatest of all is God so LOVED us that He was Willing to die that we could live! The imposable solution was found to us not loving Him! Now is the time to love Him back!!

August 12, 2020 at 6:55 amIncredible how cruel and judgmental so-called “Christians” can be. To those who deemed it okay, or even necessary to condemn Phil, I have a question: Think back. Is there one skeleton in your closet? One thing you would NEVER want to come to light? One thing of which you are ashamed? We all know the answer. The answer is “of course!” I praise the Robertson clan for having the courage to be so transparent.

August 17, 2020 at 7:49 pmI found Duck Dynasty on the TV app tubi and yet again enjoyed watching this family often finding myself giggling during some of the episodes and it led me to look up and see how this awesome family is doing and the current projects they’re involved in. I’ll be buying all of the books from the different family members, I know through this family I’ll get closer to where I need to be in Christ, don’t get me wrong I read my Bible, watch and listen to some of the Christian leaders on TV & radio however I know I’ll enjoy getting closer to what Christ wants for my life through this family and the way they share Gods word and their own testimony. Thank you Robertson family. This story in her words is so touching from her point of view, she is a true follower of Christ. This family is blessed to have Miss Kay and we are blessed to have the redemption she was able to help bring forth in her husband through her loyalty, dedication, patience and seeking the word from the preacher who was able to shine Gods light for this beautiful couple Kay and Phil Robertson so that they could shine Gods light for their children who are now bringing Gods light to all who want it. Thank you for all you do and congratulations on the latest additions to your family. Can’t wait to get the Duck Commander Faith and Family Bible, Al and Lisa’s books, Korie & Willies Strong & Kind. It would be awesome if the Duck Commander ladies did a blog on Christian women fashions for different stages in a woman’s life. They have great fashion sense. Thanks again and congratulations Robertson family stay strong in the Lord.

August 17, 2020 at 8:49 pmMarsha Kay Robertson is a saint without her love, dedication, loyalty, forgiveness in the Lord our Jesus Christ none of this would have been possible. Lets pray for the biological mother the siblings and father who raised her as his own hopefully those lifelong relationships have not been damaged by any of this and hopefully Miss Kay doesn’t have to endure a relationship with her mother through all of this, that would be way too much to ask from any woman. God Bless you all and the biological mother and this woman’s other father. Men who can stand up, love and accept a child to raise them as their own are also saints, unless of course the bio mom was sleeping with him and Kay’s husband at the same time, in that case the other father may have thought she was his the whole time.

August 26, 2020 at 10:09 amThe journey of life leads us down different roads. I was at a family funeral
A poem was read it is called the dash!
It’s the mark between the day you are born and the day you die, ( meaning what did you do with your life during the time god gave you) ?
Every Pearson on Gods green earth will answer for there dash. Remember that
It truly is that simple.

September 13, 2020 at 1:31 pmI listened to the UnAshamed podcast, and Phyllis mentioned that she didn’t understand how the grace God had extended to Phil’s family had fallen upon her all of her life even though they did not know each other. Well, I do know why. Since Phil became a Christian (coincidentally right before her birth) I am CERTAIN that, daily, as he prayed for his family, especially his children, to KNOW THE LORD and for God’s grace to be upon them, that OF COURSE God knew Phyllis was Phil’s child….so He honored those prayers.

November 10, 2020 at 1:48 pmThank you for sharing this and for the Robertson family sharing this part of your lives. I hope it encourages other stories, unanswered questions and holes in the hearts of families unknown. It is a beautiful story of forgiveness at the deepest core. Beauty from Ashes, for sure.

December 30, 2020 at 9:46 amIt is said that you can’t relate until you’ve walked in another’s shoes. Well I’ve walked in Miss Kay’s shoes because I too have faced the pain of infidelity in my marriage…though I doubt I have walked it as gracefully as she. A Proverbs 31 woman indeed! You are a godly example Miss Kay. I have also walked in Phil’s shoes because I too am a sinner saved by grace. From one redeemed soul to another, Mr Robertson I commend you for owning up to your past and for handling this like a real man. So many in the public eye would have tried to pay off this situation to keep it quiet and appear spotless. But you did the right thing…you have talked the talk and now we see you live it out walking the walk. And sweet Phyllis I have walked in your shoes to an extent as well. I too was a planned by God but not by humans little girl. I learned on my 16th birthday that the uninvolved father I thought I shared with my brother and sister was not mine. I was given only a little information from my mother and the story changed from time to time. She went to her grave with secrets 7 years ago and needless to say I have just as many blanks as I did 35 years ago when Mama told me. But God is good and faithful…He is my Daddy now and I am content sitting on His lap. If God sees fit I will learn the truth and meet my father here on Earth. I can only hope that I’d be welcomed with open arms and loved on the way you have been. I am so happy for you Phyllis that you have found your family! As you start this new season in your life, I’ll be praying for you. And I commend you for not giving up the search and not allowing fear to stop you. You are a brave and strong woman of God. May He continue to bless you all richly.
